Allison C. Melville, Esq.

Bar Exam Survivor. 3-Time Flunker. 295 Scorer. Your New Bar Exam Strategist.

Let me guess: you’re overwhelmed, overworked, and over the bar exam.
Same.

My name is Allison, and I started ACM Bar Strategies because I’ve lived the bar exam nightmare not once, not twice, but three whole times. That is three heartbreaks, three “we regret to inform you” letters, and three times wondering if going to law school was a huge mistake.

Let me take you back to July 2021. I sat for the Georgia bar exam: remote, open-book, and allegedly “easy.” Needed a 270, got a 243. Cool.

So I regrouped, studied harder, and took the February 2022 Georgia bar exam. This time it was in-person. I failed again, this time by 16 points. Still not close enough to laugh about.

At that point, I was emotionally exhausted. I had gone straight from undergrad into law school and straight from law school into… well, unemployment and bar exam purgatory. So I did what many of us do when life goes sideways: I pivoted. I took JD-preferred jobs, got experience, and tried to convince myself I didn’t really want to practice law anyway (spoiler: I did).

Then came the July 2023 Georgia bar exam. I went all in. I cleared my calendar, sacrificed my summer, studied like my life depended on it… and failed again. This time by 11 points.

That one hit different because I genuinely thought I had done everything right. And still, the exam whispered, “Not yet.”

I almost gave up. But instead of quitting, I changed my approach completely.
I decided to take the D.C. Uniform Bar Exam, not because it was easier (it was not), but because I needed a fresh start.
Same Big 7 subjects, more essays, and no Georgia-specific curveballs.

I was working full-time in the most demanding role of my life. I didn’t have time to waste making the same mistakes.
So I created a new study system, one that actually fit into my life and worked with my brain, not against it.
And this time? It worked.

I scored a 295.
Enough to transfer into any UBE jurisdiction. (Yes, even New York. Harvey Specter, here I come.)

That win changed everything.

But more importantly, it taught me what the bar exam courses do not:
The problem is not that you don’t know the law.
The problem is no one teaches you how to actually study for this exam in YOUR life with YOUR circumstances.

So I built ACM Bar Strategies to do just that.

I don’t sell you outlines and I won’t reteach you torts.
I help you build a strategy. One that makes sense. One that sticks. One that works whether it’s your first time or your fifth.

Because if you’re reading this, chances are you’re tired of starting over.
Let me help you stop spinning your wheels and make this your last time.

You never forget your first…

Let’s try this again.

Ah, life… always full of surprises I didn’t ask for.

4th time’s a charm, or whatever they say…

Let’s Begin
